Caring Connections

(Updated February 8, 2025)

We are excited to get started again with Caring Connections. We want to let everyone know what this group is about and see who may be interested in getting involved.

Caring Connections is a group of Temple Beth David members committed to supporting synagogue families in times of need.  It is not a formal committee.  Rather, members of Caring Connections have volunteered to be contacted by the group’s coordinators when others in our community are in need.  Whether in times of illness, injury, loss, isolation, or other life-challenging situations, or in moments of celebration, the group endeavors to help by, for example:

  • Making friendly phone calls

  • Sending condolence cards or notes of congratulations

  • Coordinating visits at home or in the hospital in times of illness

  • Providing bereavement support

  • Delivering mitzvah meals needed due to illness, loss, or the birth of a baby

  • Arranging transportation to Temple Beth David services and events, when possible.

The group works collaboratively with Rabbi Karen Citrin to coordinate efforts, and all information shared by the Rabbi with Caring Connections members is held in confidence.

Please contact Caring Connections coordinators Michelle Shapiro-Arroyo and Sharon Leifer if you would like to join the group and are willing to be contacted about meaningful volunteer opportunities as they arise.
