Interim Rabbi Search Committee Update

The Interim Rabbi Search Committee (IRSC) has been hard at work these last few months.  Applications, presented by the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR), were received both before and after the High Holidays and four Skype interviews were held.  All of the candidates have received “Interim Rabbi” training.  The Committee invited two candidates, each with ten years of experience serving as Interim Rabbis, to Temple Beth David for further conversation.  One has already visited and the other is scheduled to come in January.

During their time at Temple Beth David, each candidate has a similar schedule; meeting and sharing meals with Executive Board and Board members, committee chairs and past presidents.  They also have met or will meet (either in person or by phone) with Rachel Reef-Simpson, Cantorial Intern, Aviva Scheur, Education Director, Rita Cohen, Temple Secretary and Rabbi Zoob, our Rabbi Emeritus.  Each has been in communication with Rabbi Wildstein.  Each candidate has dined or will dine with Temple President David Wang and IRSC co-chair, Amy Cook.  Finally, each candidate has met or will meet with the entire IRSC for dinner and an interview.

The Committee is very encouraged by the quality of the candidates and will continue to keep the Congregation informed as things progress.
