Whale mobile Visit 2017

In preparation for Yom Kippur, the Whalemobile came to Temple Beth David on Sunday, September 24th! Our Religious School students got to BE Jonah!

Nile the whale is a life-size replica of a humpback whale often sighted in the Gulf of Mexico. Our students learned about Nile and her markings, what whales eat and how they breathe, then had the opportunity to enter the belly of the whale!

Once safely inside, they learned more about whales and Rabbi Karen shared the story of Jonah.  They imagined how Jonah felt being inside the whale for three days and three nights! Students learned how God taught Jonah to care about people, plants and animals.

Our students learned about protecting our oceans from plastic and other pollution and how to practice tikkun olam, repairing the world.

We can all make a difference!
